Flocks of the Wamani

An ethnographic study of five Ilma herding communities in Ayacucho, Peru. It contains a detailed study of the waytakuy Ilama marking ceremony. It evaluates the role of this ceremony in preventing herds from going to extinction against anthropological and sociobiological theory.
